Richard Fescoe Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Funeral Home - Jacksonville on Jan. 23, 2023.
Rick Fescoe, 64, of Calabash, NC unexpectedly passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born on April 2, 1958 in Summit, NJ to Andrew and Betty Fescoe.
Rick faithfully served his country for greater than 43 years, first in the United States Marine Corps for almost 21 years, then with the Boeing Company for 22 years. As a Marine, Rick served as an Enlisted Marine, Warrant Officer, and Marine Captain. In 1985 he was accepted into the Warrant Officer Program as a Flight Equipment officer. Two years later he pursued his dream of being a Maintenance Officer and spent the next 10 years solving a lot of squadron maintenance problems and becoming one of the best Aircraft Maintenance Officers Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron (MALS-29) ever had. He retired in 1997 as a Marine Mustang officer.
Always a Marine, for his second career he joined the Boeing team in 1998 and was instrumental in establishing the Bell-Boeing V-22 at MCAS New River. As a result of his dedication, knowledge and leadership skills, he assumed the responsibility, accountability, and authority as the Integrated Logistics Support and Field Service Representative. His infectious professional demeanor and knowledge of the V-22 aircraft drew the US Government customer to continuously rely on Rick for straight forward and honest answers and results. His Marine side would come out at times when needed, but to both the US Government agencies and the Bell-Boeing team, he was their true on-site leader. After 22 years, he retired in January 2020 and looked forward to his retirement years in Calabash.
Throughout it all, Rick was an avid woodworker, handyman, golfer, and gardener, and was always working on some project for family members, friends, or someone who just needed a little help. Rick loved his family and he cherished any and all time spent with them. Rick is survived by his wife of 44 years, Donna Fescoe; sons, Chris (Michelle), Kyle (Lindsey), Chad (Megan); daughter Courtney (Maurice); grandchildren, Ava, Lincoln, Mason, Micah and Morgan Fescoe; brothers, Robert and Scott Fescoe, and many other loved ones across our extended family. He is preceded by his parents, Andrew and Betty Fescoe, and his brother, Andy.
A viewing will be held Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville, NC. A service will be held Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Infant of Prague Catholic Church in Jacksonville, NC followed by his burial at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery. A reception to follow at Infant of Prague Fellowship Hall.
As a husband, father, grandfather (Yoda), and friend, Rick will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rick's honor to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or the National Museum of the Marine Corps. https://www.legacy.com/us/obituaries/name/richard-fescoe-obituary?id=38722383
